“Made in Mexico” appears in many sectors across Mexico, including the automobile industry.
Currently, Mexico can be considered a hub of the automotive industry worldwide. The Mexican automotive market continues to become increasingly strong. Mexico has a highly trained workforce, various trade agreements, and an enviable geographical position. Various initiatives have begun to appear, with worldwide acclaim.
Such that, in the complex automobile industry, some Mexican enthusiasts have gone against all odds and have ventured to build autos. Standing out is truly a challenge.
Below are Mexican automobile manufacturers that stand out listed in alphabetical order.
Biomotion
Biomotion is an auto company based in Mexico, dedicated to the construction of electric cars. It prides itself in being 100% Mexican and based in the state of Chihuahua.
In search of an attractive image, the company held a contest in which it sought Mexican talent for the creation of what could be its new Mexican electric model. It launched a call to independent designers to develop what could be the flagship model of this automotive company.
In 2013, the award went to the Alux Concept.

This model was manufactured by the design house Rigoletti Casa de Diseño, represented by a team composed of members Óscar Chavira, Alejandro Miranda, Sabastían Dic and Victor Humberto Sánchez. The project was led by designer Alejandro Castañeda.
BioMotion has not revealed whether the auto will be built in production, or if it will remain only as a prototype. Technical specifications have also not been revealed.
DINA
Diesel Nacional S.A (DINA) was founded in 1951. DINA became the largest truck manufacturerin Latin America, maintaining commercial agreements with some of the most important companies in its field worldwide. Autos were manufactured in its facilities. It is the birthplace of the legendary Dinalpin A110.

In 1989 it was acquired by Grupo G. In 2001, the company filed for bankruptcy. In 2008, the activities restarted. The manufacturing plant in Ciudad Sahagún, Hidalgo has remained in production since then.
Today, DINA is mainly dedicated to the construction of public transport trucks.
EV Motors
EV Motors is a Mexican company currently manufacturing the ‘X4E’ auto. The auto has improved features. This vehicle is sold in 22 different colors such as red, yellow, green, forest green, pink, magenta, and navy blue. Customers are allowed the option to choose the color and design.
This electric vehicle has a battery that guarantees a range of 50 to 170 kms of driving. The auto is fully charged in 12 hours. The auto is ideal for short transfers. Itsmaximum weight without the battery is 220 kg.
The vehicle offers premium features, such as digital screen, keyless ignition, and reverse camera. It also has an internal ventilation system, heating, and other features that make it ideal for city travel.
Inferno Automobili
Disruptive Studio Design, is a Mexican agency, responsible for the design and customization of Inferno Automobili. Officially, the auto has not yet gone on the market. The company plans to officially establish itself in Mexico. It plans to open a design center in the Bajío (central region of Mexico), in the near future.
The Mexican agency is currently collaborating with specialized companies such as the Italian OPAC (Officina Prototipi Automobili Carrozzeria), for future developments. Inferno Automobili plans to take the individualization of the auto to an extreme. Basically, each unit of the 33 that are contemplated to be manufactured, will be an exclusive one-off. No unit will be the same. Each customer can make changes to both the exterior, interior and mechanics of the vehicle. The process will be similar to the process of a “tailor-made suit”.
Technically, it has been revealed that the auto will be able to mount up to four different mechanical schemes: V10 or V12 petrol engine, hybrid mechanics, 100% electric, base power 1,330 Hp, and a body in carbon fiber or metal foam. The brand reserves more technical details.
At the moment,the only place where you can drive this Italian-Mexican sports car is the video game Asphalt 9: Legends.
In 2015, the Inferno Exotic Car surprised the world. The body of the auto is made of “Metal Foam”, practically an indestructible car. Soon, the company will present two new limited-edition models. There will be more Inferno Exotic Car versions to come.
Giant Motors
Giant Motors Latin America was founded in 2006. It is 100% Mexican. The company is dedicated to the production, assembly, distribution, and sale of vehicles. It has an assembly plant located in Cd. Sahagún Hidalgo (next to DINA), which includes an assembly area, quality process, and product storage.
Furthermore, the company has a specific area for tests and a dynamometer where the EPT (Extreme Performance Test) is carried out. Currently this company is responsible for representing and assembling all the products that JAC sells in Mexico, as well as FAW Trucks vehicles.
Mastretta
Mastretta Cars was founded in 1987 by Daniel Mastretta. This automotive company is based in Mexico City. Original models were inspired by his love of vintage auto racing. The company chose to create their own brand and uses their own styling technique to create auto models. The company started out selling only high-end vehicles.
Mastretta is one of the few major automobile makers that offers high-end luxury vehicles. Mastretta has also introduced other luxury car models such as the Sivan and the Zebra. It has also expanded into different categories of cars, trucks, SUVs, and motorcycles.
Today, Mastretta Cars are designed for both domestic and foreign markets. Some are sold in the United States and Canada, and available in many countries across the world.
The Mastretta MXT auto was considered a revelation, a Mexican automobile designed without any foreign input. It was produced in Toluca, State of Mexico. In 2008, the Mastretta MXT auto was presented at the British International Motor Show.

Standard features were to include racing bucket seats and seatbelts, ABS brakes, an SRS airbag system, 17-inch magnesium wheels, digital board instruments, Borla exhaust, and an automatic climate control system. The vehicle’s security and safety features were specifically designed to surpass EU crash and safety. The 2011 serial-production MXT was powered by a 2.0 liter with more than 240 hp, turbocharger and aftercooling, allowing it to reach a top speed of over 230 km/h (143 mph). This 2011 production model MXT debuted at the 2010 Paris Motor Show in 2010.
The MXT entered production in 2011.
It has received national and international attention for being almost entirely produced and designed in Mexico. Production of the Mastretta MXT ended in May 2014.
RON Automobiles of Mexico
Ron Automobiles S.A. de C.V. is based in Guadalajara, Jalisco. Ron Automobiles is a company dedicated to the design and manufacture of vehicles. The company is owned by Carlos Iván Ron Magaña. Since 2103, the project is in protype stage for 2 prototypes since 2013.
The R07 is a street-car that has everything that is needed to run in competitions of super light cars. The suspension has 19 adjustment points that make it highly flexible. The exterior design is an abstraction of the car designed by Colin Chapman with an improved chassis in safety points and rigidity.
The Ron RXX is a concept super sports car which could integrate 2 electric motors and a longitudinal engine in the rear, with a hybrid chassis of aluminum and carbon fiber. The company continues to improve the performance and cost of the RON XXX.
VUHL
This highly respected sports car manufacturer was the initiative of the brothers Iker and Guillermo Echeverría. They were inspired by the cars in which their father Guillermo Echeverría competed in the Can Am series. Here, began the VUHL 05 version.

Partner companies include Ford (engine), Multimatic (chassis and suspensions) and Michelin (tires). In addition, it holds the record for mounting the lightest wheels on the market (built in carbon fiber) on its VUHL 05 RR.

Zacua
Zacua is a small auto industry company specializing in electric cars.

Zacua opened its production plant in Puebla in 2018. It has two urban models called MX2 and MX3. Their range is of 160 km and both are powered by a 34 kW (45 hp) electric motor and 64 lb-ft of torque. The maximum speed is 95 km/h. The brand has reported steady growth. The Zacua range is a pioneer in Mexico. It may one day surprise us with a zero emissions model.
Background History
In 1930, the two Solana brothers were the first to manufacture mass-produced auto models in Mexico. Autos Solana is considered to be the first auto manufacturing and production brand in Mexico. The brothers, José Antonio and Javier, collaborated in the manufacture of the first Mexican automobiles. José Antonio designed the chassis while Javier completed the bodywork.
In the years that followed, there was a catalog of automobiles endemic to Mexico, developed by Mexican ingenuity. Most of these no longer exist.
In the 1970’s, Mexico had its own number of muscle cars.
After several years, Mastretta set a trend. The company created their own styling technique for luxury vehicles.
