How To Select The Best Tequila

Tequila is the drink that has conquered the palates of the world. The flavor of tequila is unique and is considered as one of the most exclusive drinks in the world.

So how to select the best tequila?

First of all, tequila can only be produced in Mexico.

For selection, then it is key to recognize the varieties of tequila. The characteristics that must be met, and what each brand has to offer.

Authentic tequila must have the seal of the Tequila Regulatory Council (CRT) and a SAT seal to determine that it is a guaranteed product.

Its presentation labeling must identify that it is 100% agave tequila. If this legend is not included, it is a mixed tequila, with a minimum of 51% agave.

Tequila has a denomination of origin, so its production is limited to a few regions in Mexico: Jalisco, Nayarit, Guanajuato, Tamaulipas, and Michoacán. Only in these regions is the tequila Agave  Weber Blue Variety harvested.

What brands are must-taste tequila brands?

The best tequilas are characterized by being 100% agave.

The best tequilas are characterized by being 100% agave. There is not any extra percentage of sugars or sugar cane.  Pure tequilas are classified into Blanco, Reposado, Añejo, Extra Añejo, Joven.

The presentation or the price depend on the type of tequila you are looking for: a white does not cost the same as an extra aged tequila as the processes are not the same. Hence, the only way to discover the quality of a tequila is to drink it.

The best Blanco tequila

The blanco (white) tequila is the origin of other tequilas. It stems from the second distillation of agave. The alcohol content presented on the label comes from the water molecules diluted in the alcohol. Blanco tequila does not carry the process of aging in a barrel. It has an herbal taste and tastes more pure. It should not taste spicy or smoked. Blanco tequila is perfect as an appetizer.
